Oran Tobin is an Irish baritone, conductor, composer, and educator based in Galway. A graduate of the Cork School of Music, his work is driven by a fascination with what the human voice can do and how choral music brings people together.
He draws on Irish landscape, folklore, and the changing seasons. His artistic vision combines a deep respect for the choral tradition with a real commitment to creating new music and new opportunities for singers and audiences. His compositions use rich harmonic language and lyrical storytelling. His conducting aims for performances that are technically strong and emotionally immediate.
As founder and Artistic Director of Meitheal, Oran is building an ensemble where artistic excellence and generosity go hand in hand. One that champions living composers, nurtures emerging singers, and creates concert experiences rooted in place, community, and the quiet power of unaccompanied voices.
